Celebrating 100 Years at San Diego Zoo

Location: San Diego, California, United States.

Ever since I was a little girl, I have always wanted to visit San Diego Zoo. And I was extremely lucky to visit when the zoo was celebrating their 100th anniversary from 1916-2016. 100 years of animal care and conservation. Happy Centennial Anniversary!

My sister and I spent hours at the zoo, it was a beautiful day and we felt so happy to be there, celebrating the 100th anniversary. The tickets for a one-day pass are $52 (USD) – this includes entry to the park, a guided bus tour, Kangaroo express bus, Skyfari aerial tram and access to daily scheduled shows for animal care and feeding.

There are so many beautiful animals at the zoo from giant gorillas and elephants, to miniscule leaf-cutter ants. Polar bears, panda bears, penguins, anacondas, flamingos, and koalas.

And if you’re making time for San Diego Zoo, you should make time to explore San Diego- it’s a beautiful area of California. Here are my top recommendations:

  • Balboa Park
  • Seaport Village
  • USS Midway Museum
  • Cabrillo National Monument
  • Point Loma
  • Historic Hotel Del Coronado
  • San Diego- Coronado Bridge
  • Unconditional Surrender Statue

We ran out of time in San Diego but if I had longer there is a lot more I would like to see. So if you get the chance for a visit, let me know what you get up to please and what your recommendations are! Thank you J

Enjoy.

  1. Thanks for calling attention to this sterling attraction and the anniversary. All of Balboa Park is something would-be visitors should know. Thank you for joining Under Western Skies!
