I absolutely love travelling, I believe it is a fantastic experience however, from time-to-time you will experience a bad day, a wasted activity or an unwelcoming location.
If you are planning to visit Vancouver in Canada which I 100% recommend, I respectfully advise you to avoid walking through Downtown Eastside, which is along East Hastings Street. Unfortunately, if you are staying on the outskirts of downtown Vancouver your bus route might pass through East Hastings Street. I personally felt very uncomfortable travelling through this street on public transport, so if you can take an alternative route, I would advise you to do so.
But please, if you are walking round and exploring Downtown, Gastown, and Vancouver City Centre, just avoid walking any further into Downtown Eastside. If you research Downtown East side on google, you will find this neighbourhood is notorious for drug-trade, sex work, poverty, mental illness, crime, infectious diseases and a high percentage of homelessness.
It’s not my intention to scare you away from travelling; I am passing on friendly advice from one traveller to another. We need to look out for each other!
Take care and be safe out there! Bye for now. 🙂
